Backlinks Indexation and Getting Traffic Through RSS-feeds.

This article covers all three topics of backlinks, indexation on search engines and RSS feeds. It covers them all individually and then shows you how they all combine in order to make up your website’s SEO.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It relates to how likely your website is going to be ranked highly in search engine results. For example, if your website’s SEO is very good, there is a bigger chance of your website appearing on page one of the search engines results pages. If your website’s SEO is bad then there is a good chance that your website will be result number 2 million (or some other unknown page number that nobody ever looks at).

If you apply what you learn on this article into your websites SEO, you will be better able to rise through the search engine results pages, and get more web traffic as a result.

An RSS feed can provide you with links. The RSS feed relates to the viewers RSS-feed reader via a link. This link however is not a powerful backlink in the eyes of the search engines. Search engines take note of links from RSS feeds because a lot of them will indicate that your blog is popular, but they will not use them to rank your website on the search engines (it only has a small influence on their indexing decision).

An RSS feed does have a few advantages however, such as how it is updated automatically or periodically. How the content in an RSS feed is always fresh and how the titles usually contain relevant keywords. They also act as one-way links, which is not of a massive importance in this case, but is still better than reciprocal links.

How does an RSS feed work?

A reader simply clicks the RSS-feed button to add it to their feed aggregator. They may then check their aggregator every now and again–in order to see if anything has been added to it. It is quick and easy for the reader, and helps the writer gain free, repeat traffic for his/her blog. When you publish something new on a blog, you submit it to your RSS feed and it appears as a new item on the readers RSS-feed reader (aggregator).

What are backlinks?

There are links from one domain (website) to another. The link has text or an image attached to it that people have to click in order for the link to bring up the linked page. This is called anchor text or anchor images. It is often wise to have a few keywords in the anchor text so that the search engine knows what it is linking to.

What is indexation?

This is where a search engine reads your website and ranks it on their search engine results pages. The information they gather is indexed so that they can link to you when someone runs a search on their search engine.

How does one get indexed on a search engine?

There are many ways to get your website or blog indexed on the search engines. Here we will discuss the world’s largest search engine, which is Google, but many of the rules apply for other search engines.

Your website may be indexed on its own over time. As people link to your website, they create a way for the search engines to find your website. Over time the search engines will read the other websites and follow its links to your website, where they will read yours. If you have lots of internal links on your website or blog, the search engine will follow them and read all of your site (and index it). If you would like to speed things up a little then you can arrange to have a few guest posts or articles put onto other websites with a link to your site.

Speeding up indexing

If you would like to speed up the indexing process even more, you should have a website that is very well internally linked. There must be at three internal links per page, and one page should have a link to all of the most important web pages on your site. You should call this page your “Sitemap.”

It is also the page you can turn into an .XML file. Add in all of your websites page URLS (web page addresses) onto this site and submit it to Google Webmasters for indexing. You need to sign up to Google Webmaster tools, but it is free. You need to submit the .XML file to Google and their search engine program will read it and index every page you put on it.

This may not be the fastest way of getting your site indexed, but is the only way of guaranteeing that every page of your website in indexed (even the ones without internal or external links pointing to it).

Using a blog, you may gain more traffic. Backlinks and an RSS feed may help you

If there is a vital component to any Internet business is traffic. Without traffic our business is doomed to failure. You can use the paid solutions like Google Adwords, but a free method to get targeted traffic to your website is with a blog. Initially it was reserved for those who wanted to have their newspaper or memoirs on the Internet, now everyone has one, especially as a professional business.

For professionals–the blog has several advantages. It helps retain readers rather than just refer them to pay for products or services. It allows you to get targeted traffic for free. Many people get targeted traffic on their blog and use it to guide people to their paid products.

Search engines like blogs and if you use WordPress (free), you may use various plugins such as “All in One SEO Pack” and “Google Sitemaps Generator.” They will help you to quickly get on the first page of Google (targeting keywords where the competition is not fierce obviously).

Ways of getting backlinks

So much for the SEO, now let’s look at other possibilities. You may write comments on the blogs of your colleagues and add a link to your blog. You may participate in several forums and add the link to your blog in your signature. You may create an account on Twitter and Facebook to get closer to your potential customers. You may also add your blog to different directories.

RSS feeds help to keep people coming back

Once people are on your blog, you offer them quality information (related to your product or service fee). Thanks to the comments left by your readers, you can create a real interaction, which will improve their confidence in your blog and their loyalty to it. It may even inspire them to sign up to your RSS feed, which will increase the chances of them returning.

Getting backlinks through an article

The last step is to promote your products through an article. Either you make write it about your products, or you add a little phrase in your article that relates to your blogs-landing page. A blog is an excellent communication tool that allows you to retain individuals before they see your products.
