March is Women’s History Month, so NSPS kicks off the next few weeks highlighting “Women in Surveying.” This episode of “Surveyor Says!” The NSPS Podcast is the conversation between Executive Director Tim Burch and the current NSPS President Amanda Allred talking her year leading our organization. With March being Women’s History Month, we start strong with our “Future Focus” series and welcoming Sarah Walker, a dynamic Nevada Young Surveyor who recently passed both of her NCEES exams. She recently sat down with Tim Burch to discuss how she was introduced to surveying, how she enjoys doing boundary retracement, and weekends on her dirt bike finding new mountain trails. Sarah also shares how important having a mentor is to her professional development and working towards being able to teach surveying in the future. She also talked about the success of building the Nevada Young Surveyors Network (50+ members!) through networking and sharing experiences.

Stephanie Michaud is Strategic Marketing Manager at Trimble, responsible for strategic marketing activities within the Geospatial field solutions portfolio, spanning GIS, Survey and Emerging Markets. Stephanie is my second Canadian growing up in British Columbia, while spending some time as a teen living in Ecuador to gain travel and life experience with her parent who were science teachers. She loved Math & science and wanted to do the hardest thing she could do, wanting to be an aerospace engineering. Stephanie attended the University of Calgary, and joined the Trimble Rotation Program. She is a global mentor, building relationships across business, academia and geographies for Trimble.
