How to make money through affiliates, without a website?

First in, this method is really exciting but needs a lot of focused work. So be ready for adventures coming along. I will break this post into different ways of earning affiliate income without website. You can choose one, two or more ways depending upon your strength to do dedicated work.

I assume that you have already made an account on the top affiliate sites like Amazon Associate, Clickbank, ShareASale and CJ.

Here are some initial steps to start making an affiliate business.

Step-1: Find your niche

Before starting to do anything about affiliate, you must know what you want to sell through your affiliate link. There are millions of brands trying to sell billions of product online.

It becomes easier to find your target audience once you know what you want to sell. If you are completely ametuer and have no idea where to start, start with searching a basic keyword which almost everyone searches on google.

  • Find a basic keyword and search in most popular keyword research tool, SEMrush. I start with searching “Ways to”, you can search more such keywords like, sell…, how to…, price…
  • Get a concrete niche with high volume of searches no matter how tough is the competition. My counter intuitive approach will work because you should focus on people who are searching for products but not coming to your website. (So you are not competing with websites which are already ranking in google).

Step-2: Make a buyer persona

Marketing persona is a fictitious generalisation of your target audience. You should come up with few answers to the following questions.

  • Where do your audience live?
  • What do they do for a living?
  • How does a single day in their life look like?
  • What are their priorities towards spending money in your niche?
  • Where they spend their most of the time online?

After answering these questions, try to come up with a single character (person) who possess these qualities. Learn about creating user persona from expert’s of buffer team.

Step-3: Find real people around your persona

Go the places where, you know, your persona spends her time. Find living matches of your imaginary buyer persona.

You will find people on social media and discussion forums. Spend some time in your research on platforms like –

  • Facebook/LinkedIn/Google+ Groups
  • Quora
  • Reddit
  • Niche Forums

From the discussions, you will know who wants to buy the products in your niche.

Step-4: Funnel them up to click on your link

Make a way for your target people to come to your affiliate link. Leave engaging messages, write reviews, let them know how you can benefit them. We did one experiment with affiliate marketing to earn money by writing book review on our website, and funneled up audience from social media. We ended up closing three sales from Amazon affiliates.

If you write helpful answers in the communities then they will click your links and you will make money.

Social Media

Drop your affiliate links in the highly engaging social media platforms. This way, you can utilise the social media addiction of your target audience to earn money through affiliate.

Use your accounts of Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Google+ to follow influential people and participate in communities in your niche. Prove your authority in the communities so that people start trusting your advice.

Discussion Forums

Use discussion forums in your niche to interact with your target audience. People often come to these forums with a problem or query. Try to solve their problem effectively and drop your affiliate link in the last.

You can also use Quora and Reddit to for promoting your affiliate link.

Conclusion
